History/Company Profile:
• Founded in 1972 Four College roommates, from the University
of Tennessee, decided to open a bar with burgers, munchies and peanut
shells on the floor. It was called Ruby Tuesday.
• The first restaurant was in Knoxville, Tennessee
• Eventually expanded to 15-16 stores
• Joined Morrison Cafeterias in 1982, to aid in expansion. Moved
corporate offices to Mobile, Alabama
• Broke from Morrisons in March of 1996
• Became a publicly held company, on the NYSE under RI
• Moved corporate offices back to Maryville TN (Knoxville) in
June of 1998
• Currently over 800 restaurants mainly in the Northeast, Midwest
& Southeast
• Have been in the West (Colorado, Texas & Arizona) since
1994
• International Franchise was born in 1996 Currently operating,
or in negotiation in over 20 countries.
Colorado Franchise
• Born 1996, currently have 13 units from Ft. Collins to Pueblo
to Dillon
• President & CEO of the company resides in Parker
• Planned growth: 8 units over the next 5 years. 1-3 planned
for 2007.
